UPDATE 1/15: Boil Water Advisory Lifted – Main Break on Durham Road in Penndel

UPDATE 1/15: The boil water advisory that was issued on Monday, January 13, 2025 for customers on Durham Road and Framer Avenue in Penndel has been lifted. All laboratory testing has been completed showing there is no bacteria in the water. BCWSA apologizes for any inconvenience its customers experienced due to this unforeseen event.

Clean water infrastructure is a necessary public health and environmental investment, and a sound economic investment. Construction of wastewater facilities is among the highest generators of jobs for all infrastructure categories. Each $1 billion in sewer improvements generates over 57,000 direct and indirect jobs.
What clean water infrastructure needs has the EPA reported?

EPA’s 1996 Needs Survey reported $139.5 billion in wastewater infrastructure needs based on eligible costs under the CWA. On March 18, 1999, however, EPA released preliminary, revised estimates that indicate $199.6 billion in wastewater needs over 20 years.
How have federal clean water requirements for local governments changed?
Initially, EPA required local governments with POTWs to construct and implement “secondary treatment,” which is defined as the best available control technology. This step was costly, but with significant levels of federal grant funding, it resulted in a major nationwide improvement in wastewater treatment and water quality.

BCWSA works diligently to deliver the highest quality drinking water to its customers. We invest in replacing and upgrading aging infrastructure and continuously make improvements to ensure that we meet upcoming water regulations. Sometimes circumstances beyond our control may affect the quality of the drinking water. One such situation occurred in the Middletown Township portion of the BCWSA Main Lower South Water System.
10/2 UPDATE: Road Closed – Old Bethlehem Pike & Station Road

The sewer main replacement work at the traffic circle at Old Bethlehem Pike and Station Road is complete. On Thursday, October 3rd, trench restoration and paving will be done. Once the paving is cooled off, Station Road and Old Bethlehem Pike will be re-opened.
Boil Water Advisory – East Pine Street

On Thursday, October 3, 2024, a main break was reported in the area of East Pine Street in Feasterville-Trevose. When BCWSA crews arrived on the scene, they were able to isolate the break to begin repairs. During repairs, a loss of positive water pressure was experienced and BCWSA issued a boil water advisory for customers on East Pine Street between Shortleaf Street and Philadelphia Avenue.
