Notice for Bristol Borough Customers
With the expiration of the 2022 Bristol Borough acquisition agreement, your account will transition to BCWSA’s current rate structure effective January 1, 2026.
The new rates reflect the rising costs for essential services that most utilities around the country are experiencing and ensure the stability of the utility through the millions of dollars BCWSA has already invested in system improvements.
Since BCWSA acquired Bristol Borough’s sewer system in 2022, more than $2.2 million has been invested by the authority on necessary repairs and maintenance. This includes major upgrades to pipes and wires, new automated monitoring systems that provide real-time data at the treatment facility, new servers, and upgraded security cameras and software. BCWSA also paid an additional $1 million, on top of the sale price, to Bristol Borough when purchasing the sewer system to make necessary repairs to the bridge used to access the plant.
If not for the acquisition, these upgrades would have been the Bristol Borough Sewer Authority’s responsibility and funded through its budget and ratepayers.
In addition, the billing will transition from a quarterly to a monthly cycle. Customers who use about 4,000 gallons a month, which is a typical household of four, could see an increase of $20 per month. Single residents, who typically use about 2,000 gallons a month, will realize a smaller monthly increase.
We are dedicated to delivering excellent service to every customer while advancing efforts to modernize aging systems that will provide lasting benefits to residents and businesses.
Thank you for being a BCWSA customer.
